     Halloween(萬(wàn)圣節(jié)) is a holiday widely celebrated with different names in many countries. It
has now lost its religious connections and is celebrated largely as a children’s day in the United
States.
     In recent years, on this day, children come to the door to have friends and neighbors admire
their costumes and guess who they are behind the false faces and receive treats of candy, fruit or
cookies. They say, "Trick or Treat", meaning, “I will play a trick on you if you will not give me a
treat.”
     More recently, this practice has even developed into a significant international activity. Instead
of candy, the children collect money for UNICEF (聯(lián)合國(guó)國(guó)際兒童緊急救援基金). This special
collection of money by children for needy children throughout the world is known as “UNICEF Trick
or Treat”. Begun only recently, it results in several million dollars each year contributed to UNICEF.
The collection box is orange, reminiscent(引人聯(lián)想的)of the pumpkin.

     From the passage we know that in recent years in the United States, Holloween has developed
into a significant international activity, when children collect money for needy children throughout the
world for UNICEF.
     After reading the passage, I feel quite comforted that Halloween has developed into a sinifican
t international activity to collect money for the poor children aroud the world. In this way I am sure
more and more poor children, especially those in Africa and Asia, will be given financial aid and live
a better and better life.
As for me , I will donate my pockey money to the poor children around me. Also I will try my best
to persuade people around me to show their loving hearts for the needy children.
     In my view, to help poor children, joint efforts from charities, enterprises and individuals are
needed. First of all, charities should collect money for the needy children. Besides, enterprises and
individuals should do what they can to provide support. What’s more, the United Nations should
do its best to help the poor countries to develop their economy so that there are less and less poor
children.

     The fly answered, “I am attracted to whatever I see, hear or smell. My five senses pull me constantly
in all directions and I cannot resist them.What is your secret? How can you stay so calm and still?”
     The elephant stopped eating and said, “My five senses do not rule my attention. Whatever I do, I
get immersed in it. Now that I am eating, I am completely absorbed in eating. In this way I can enjoy
my food and chew it better. I rule and control my attention, and not the other way around.”  
     Upon hearing these words, a smile appeared on the disciple’s face, “I understand! If my five senses
are in control of my mind and attention, then my mind is in constant unrest. If I am in charge of my five
senses and attention, then my mind becomes calm.”

    Scholars are also worried about another adverse impact of the lack of reading. "If a child had never
read a book from beginning to end before the fourth grade, he or she may lack the ability to read an
entire book," said Jiang Junjing, an experienced teacher. What is worse, it may result in a lack of the
ability to grasp the whole situation. Children who lacked the ability to read an entire book in childhood
may end up being unable to grasp the whole picture or manage the whole team when they grow up.

Many of us may have the experiences that we memorize some things more quickly and accurately in the morning than at any other time of the day. If we do some morning exercise or only take a short walk in the morning, we can build our bodies and become much healthier.
