I came to study in the United States a year ago. Yet, I did not know the real American society until I was injured in a car accident because after the car accident I had to see a doctor---- and go to court(法庭).
After the accident, my roommate called a doctor for me. I was very grateful and determined to repay him one day. But the next day, he asked me to pay him $200 for what he had done. I was astonished. He had good reason to charge me, he said. And if I wanted to collect money from the person who was responsible for my injury. I’d have to have a good lawyer. And only a good doctor can help me get a good lawyer. Now that he had helped me find a good doctor, it was only fair that I should pay him.
But every time I want to see doctor, I had to wait about 50 minutes. He would see two or three patients at the same time, and often stop treating one so as to see another. Yet he charged me $115 each time. The final examination report consisted of ten lines and it cost me $215.
My lawyer was all smiles the first time we met. But after that he avoided seeing me at all. He knew very well the other party was responsible for the accident, yet he hardly did anything. He simply waited to collect his money. He was so irresponsible that I decided to dismiss him. And he made pay him $770.
Now I had to act as my own lawyer. Due to my inexperience, I told the insurance(保險(xiǎn)) company the date I was leaving American. Knowing that, they played for time,….. and I left without getting a cent.
My experience taught me two things about America: firstly, in a country like America money is everything. It is more important than friendship, honor or professional morality(職業(yè)道德). Secondly foreigners are still being treated unfairly. So when we talk about America, we should see both its good and bad sides.

A. be responsible B. accuse C. ask as a price D. claim

4.What conclusion can you draw from the story?
A. Going to court is something very common in America

Some people think that all wild animals are very dangerous. Actually, very few of them will attack a man if he leaves them alone. If you met a lion or an elephant, suppose, you would run away, but even a lion will keep away from a man unless it is very hungry. Lions and tigers only kill and eat men when they have grown too old and too weak to catch their usual food, such as deer and other small animals. If you saw a wild elephant, perhaps you would be frightened. Elephants usually run away at once unless you attack them. Some animals get very frightened if they only smell a man; some take no notice at all but quietly walk in another direction. Wild animals only attack hunters when they are afraid that the hunters mean to harm their young ones, or then the hunters shoot at them and make them angry.

On Oct4,2011 , I phone 4s made its international appearance at the press conference claimed by the Iphone cooperation . Ever since then , Iphone4s has become a hot cake and even made a fashion around the globe. Meanwhile , many new expressions come about in relationship with this type of high-tech products. “Jailbreak” is one of them.
“ Jailbreak” means to unlock the operating system of a mobile phone or other device so that it can run software which it is not normally authorized to use because of restrictions imposed(實(shí)施) by the device's manufacturer.
If someone jailbreaks a smartphone, tablet computer or other device(設(shè)備), they use a special piece of software in order to remove the restrictions imposed by the manufacturer on the kind of applications that can be downloaded and run on the device. The concept of jailbreaking is most often associated with products from Apple Inc, such as the iPhone, iPod and iPad, which routinely restrict the user to applications licensed exclusively(獨(dú)家地) by Apple and purchased via its App Store. As well as wanting to lift the restriction(解除限制) on what kinds of applications they can purchase, those who jailbreak often do so as a reaction against what they consider as a form of censorship(監(jiān)控) imposed by Apple Inc in only allowing the use of their 'approved' apps.
The concept of jailbreaking dates back to July 2007, when it was applied to the iPhone within a month of the device's first release. This first occurrence related to the adding of custom ringtones(個(gè)性鈴音), but the idea quickly developed as a means to lift the restriction and equip the phone with games and other applications not licensed by Apple Inc.
1.“jailbreak” means that________________.
A. Criminals escape out of the jail
B. People make a great breakthrough in their life
C. It is a way to lift the restriction specially imposed by the Iphone manufacturer.
D. It’s a breakthrough beyond one’s dream.
2.Which is probably the correct Chinese meaning of a hot cake?
A.熱蛋糕 B. 搶手貨 C. 熱門話題 D. 最高禮遇
3.Which one is the correct statement from this passage?
A. The original mobile phones also require jailbreaking
B. People jailbreak not only in order to lift the restrictions of applications licensed by the Iphone Cooperation.
C. The concept of jailbreak is seldom associated with products from Apple Inc
D. The concept of jailbreak dates back to the twentieth century

Even today, a man with good manner will politely open the door for a lady, help her put on her coat when it necessary and see her safely to the door of her home after a date. When a man take a woman out for dinner, it is considered impolite to help her with her chair when she gets up or sits down. On a crowding train or bus, it is proper for a man to offer a woman his seat, especial if she is old or carries a baby. Even when it comes to shake hands, ladies come first. It is impolite for a man to extend his hand for handshake upon first greeting. Unless a woman does not extend her hand to the man first, the man shouldn’t offer theirs.
