20.A lack of confidence, bullying(欺辱弱小)and depression are the things that Canadian parents fear most for their children, according to a new national survey.

Sixty percent of parents fear what bullying would do to their children and 57percent worry about depression.Surprisingly, things like drug and alcohol abuse are much lower down in the list of worries.
"The fact that we have a growing number of parents and schools coming to us with an increased demand for services suggests that children need help,"said Bruce MacDonald, president of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association.
"The high percentage of parents who fear their children will lack confidence is somewhat surprising,"MacDonald said."Parents expect their kids to have their own sense of self-respect and self-worth,so that they would be confident enough to make the right decisions when necessary."
Of the parents surveyed,97percent said they thought guidance from a patient adult could help troubled teenagers and children.
"More and more parents and schools are reaching out and saying they need to find additional support,"MacDonald said."I think society has changed over time. It's busier now,and parents might not necessarily have the time to spend with their children as they used to."
