3.Here a re some of our favorite study tips that will help any student study smarter, not harder:
Recite As You Study
Reciting-saying things out loud should first take place as you read through each paragraph or section.Test yourself. This will help you to understand as well as learn faster because it is more active than reading or listening. It will also help y ou to notice your mistakes and the topics you have trouble understanding.
Take Fuller Notes
Notes should be in your own words, brief and clear. They should be tidy and easy to read.Writing notes will help you better than just underlining as you read, since it forces you to rewrite ideas in your own words.
Study the Middle
The best time to review is soon after you've learned something. You are more likely to remember the material at the beginning and the end of th e lesson,so make sure you focus on the middle when you review.
Sleep on It
Study before going to bed, unless you are very tired. It's easier to remember material you've just learned after sleeping than after an equal period of daytime activity, because your brain continues to think even after you've fallen asleep.
Combine Memory and Understanding
There are two ways to remember:by memorizing and by understanding.Multiplication tables(乘法表),telephone numbers, and math formulas are better learned by memorizing, while ideas are best learned by understanding.
The more ways you have to think about an idea, the more meaning it will have; the more meaningful the learning, the better you can remember it.Pay attention to similarities in ideas and concepts, and then try to understand how they fit in with things you already know.Never be satisfied with anything less than a completely clear understanding of what you are reading. If you are not able to follow the thought,go back to the place where you first got confused and try again.

2.China news,Beijing,June 5-The Horizon Research Group conducted a survey about Chinese parents and their children in May last year and this year.Based on a random sampling method, the survey, done in May last year, investigated about 1,095 people living in cities such as Beijing,Shanghai,Guangzhou,Xinjiang,Jinzhong, and Luzhou. All these people were aged between 18 and 60.The survey shows that 55.5% of the parents did not know who their children's best friends were.Fathers,in particular, knew even less about their children than mothers,as the survey shows only 33.8% of fathers knew who their children's best friends were while 50.8% of mothers did so,China Youth Daily reported.

The survey also shows that most children at present spend only 21.9% of their time playing with their friends, while their parents spent 36.8% of their time with their playmates when they were young.Nowadays, most children spend more time with their grandparents or babysitters than with their parents.

1.Four extra points of IQ,an extra year's education and a significantly enhanced income at the age of 30.Those are the benefits of having been breast-fed,according to a study just published in Lancet Global Health by Bernardo Horta of the Federal University of Pelotas,in Brazil,and his colleagues.
Previous research has suggested that breast-feeding has beneficial long-term effects.But Dr Horta's work is particularly persuasive because it looks at adults rather than children and teenagers,and because it contradicts the suggestion that social class is a confounding variable(混雜變量),with rich mothers tending to breast-feed more than poor mothers do.
The participants in the study were among a group of Brazilians born in Pelotas in 1982.Following a cohort(一群人) like this through their lives is an established method of medical research.It lets doctors test hypotheses that retrospective(涉及以往的) examination,relying on memory,cannot address reliably.In 2012and 2013Dr Horta managed to track down 3,493members of the cohort whose diet as babies,including their consumption of breast milk,had been recorded at the time,ask them some questions,and give them an IQ test.
Comparing those who,as babies,had been breast-fed for less than a month with those who had been so fed for more than a year,Dr Horta found the latter's IQ was 3.76points higher than the former's and that they had attended school for 0.91years longer.The income data were slightly more complicated.Those breast-fed for over a year had incomes 15% higher than those suckled for less than a month,but those breast-fed for six to 12months did even better,at 55%.These effects,moreover,were unaffected by a family's income at the time a study participant was born.
The reasons for this are not known for certain,though it is easy to speculate.Human milk has,presumably,been optimised for human nutrition by evolution.The social contact involved in suckling may also have an effect.But the underlying cause is less important than the result.As Winston Churchill once said,"there is no finer investment for any community than putting milk into babies."Add the word"mother's"in front of"milk",and the returns on that investment get finer still.

41.The benefits of having been breast-fed don't includeA.
A.better academic performance
B.a(chǎn)n enhanced income at the age of 30
C.a(chǎn)n extra year's education
D.higher IQ
42.Which of the following descriptions about the reasearch is correct according to the passage?C

B.The participants in the study were among a group of Brazilian adults in 1982.
C.An IQ test was conducted among some memebers of the cohort for the research.
D.The diet of the cohort as babies didn't include their consumption of breast milk.
43.Which of the following statement may the author most probably agree with?D
A.Scientist know exactly the reasons for the influence of suckling.
B.Having been breast-fed as babies will surely influence a person's income in the future positively.
C.The result of suckling is less more important than the cause.
D.Putting milk into babies is very important for any community.
44.The underlined phrase speculate in the last paragraph is closest in meaning toB.
A.understand
B.guess
C.expect
D.know
45.What is the passage mainly about?A
A.Breast-feeding,beneficial to future development.

2.In business,there's a speed difference:lt's the difference between how important a firm's leaders say speed is to their competitive strategy and how fast the company actually moves.The difference is important regardless of industry and company size.Companies fearful of losing their competitive advantage spend much time and money looking for ways to pick up the speed.
In our study of 343 businesses,the companies that chose to go,go,go to try to gain an edge ended up with lower sales and operating incomes than those that paused at key moments to make sure they were on the right track.What's more,the firms that"slowed down to speed up"improved their top and bottom lines,averaging 40% higher sales and 52% higher operating incomes over a three-year period.
How did they disobey the laws of business physics,taking more time than competitors yet performing better?They thought differently about what"slower"and"faster"mean.Firms sometimes fail to understand the difference between operational speed (moving quickly) and strategic speed (reducing the time it takes to deliver value).Simply increasing the speed of production,for example,may be one way to try to reduce the speed difference.But that often leads to reduced value over time,in the form of lower-quality products and services.
In our study,higher-companies with strategic speed always made changes when necessary.They became more open to ideas and discussion.They encouraged new ways of thinking.And they allowed time to look back and learn.By contrast,performance suffered at firms that moved fast all the time,paid too much attention to improving efficiency,stuck to tested methods,didn't develop team spirit among their employees,and had little time thinking about changes.
Strategic speed serves as a kind of leadership.Teams that regularly take time to get things right,rather than plough ahead full bore,are more successful in meeting their business goals.That kind of strategy must come from the top.

41.What does the underlined part"gain an edge"in Paragraph 2 mean?A
A.Get an advantage.

A.spending more time and performing worse
B.spending more time and performing better
C.spending less time and performing worse
D.spending less time and performing better
43.What can we learn from the text?C
A.How fast a firm moves depends on how big it is.
B.How competitive a firm is depends on what it produces.
C.Firms guided by strategic speed take time to make necessary changes.
D.Firms guided by operational speed take time to develop necessary team spirit.
44.According to the author,what is the key to deciding strategic speed?C
A.Pausing at key moments.
