I have a friend who had a stammer (口吃) in his childhood, but he dreamed of becoming a missionary(傳教士). When he told his own desire to his friends and relatives, some of whom laughed at him, and some even held down his enthusiasm       .
"I must change it." said the boy angrily, “I believe I can speak very      , I will do!"
When it was possible, he would spend an hour       to chickens. He viewed the chickens as living persons,       himself to be the person in the speech.
"In the beginning, the chickens looked so      , then they watched me curiously, putting down the food in the mouths and listening to my words. Now, the previous boy is the best at speaking and one of the most     missionaries. You can hardly imagine he used to have a serious language    . So when you come across disadvantages, you should believe you can      them by yourself.

It was a sunny day. A city man was driving along a country road with a new wagon（馬車）and a beautiful pair of horses. He didn’t pay a lot of      to where he was going. Pretty soon he    that he was lost, but he     to drive, expecting to re-find his way or to    someone who could tell him how to get back to the      .
It was a long     road. For many hours he kept on driving. When it was almost      ，he saw in a     a tall farmer ploughing（犁地） the land. He stopped his       team of horses near the fence and called out，“Hello，farmer.”
“Hello，yourself，”the farmer replied，      ploughing.
“Where does the horse       ？”he asked without knowing his language mistakes.
“I haven’t seen it go anywhere. It        stays right where it is，”said the farmer，    stopping his work.
“How far is it to the next town？” said the city man，speaking a little       .
“Don’t know. I never     it,” replied the farmer. By this time the city man was getting      .“What do you know？You’re the biggest fool I      saw.”

I stopped at a grocery store the other day because I was about to go on a long drive and I wanted to buy my favorite       for the trip. It wasn’t the store I        go to, just one I passed along the way.
As I walked up to the entrance, I        a man and a boy who was about 10 or 12 years old      at the front of the store. The man handed        half-sheets of white paper as customers walked past. I walked up to them with        , wondering what cause they      . As I got closer, I saw that they had two carts (購物車) starting to fill with       .
I said hello and the man greeted me and       me one of the pieces of paper,        that they were collecting donations for the homeless. On the paper was a simple      of food items: peanut butter, noodles, pasta sauce, canned fruits and vegetables. It also included a short story about the boy and his      to collect food donations since the age of 8. 
I was really      that someone so young would be so interested in helping others. I told him it was a(n)      idea and that he should be proud of himself. He smiled.
Then, I went inside to get my drink.       , the store didn’t have it.        , I wasn’t upset, because by then I felt I had another mission. I went through the store,        things from the list, then brought them back out to the boy and put them in the cart. They thanked me and offered me a(n)     (candy, I think).
As I walked back to my car, the boy’s well-intentioned spirit     with me. How inspiring to        a young boy with a resolve to do good deeds, and the courage to act on it.

“A” for Attitude
English was always my favorite subject. In my freshman year of high school, I could write a killer composition. In my second year, my teacher         me to give spelling tests to the class. I had a       time of my junior year. Mrs Alexander         me to sit at her desk and take over the class when she had to leave the room. Only my senior English class was        , as we had a teacher right out of college who expected        work. Every student received a "C" or "D" grade the first quarter. But English was still my favorite subject.
I graduated from high school,       early and had children.        about my English, I often helped my kids with their English homework. And I wrote long articles and beautiful poetry as a columnist for a newspaper. Fifteen years later, I went to college, and because I had been an "A" student, I remained an "A" student. I        up to my own expectations.
Yesterday, I         my high school report cards when I was reading old papers. That bundle of report cards         back the old days. I remembered sitting in my advisor's office, explaining that I had always be       at  English, and recommending that I did not deserve a '"D" from that inexperienced teacher of my senior year. The  advisor was        but unable to change a（an）       . Reading through my old report cards revealed something else too. I wanted to       them or hide them. I was not an "A" student in high school English! Somehow, I had         myself of this, when the grades clearly reflected an average student with an        "A" or "B" but mostly "C” _S.
Had I lived up to those grades and     myself according to those letters, I would have never confidently sought my writing career. Had I      my early grades instead of myself, I would have allowed my fear of failure to       enthusiasm and damage my creativity. Instead, I       my younger self as an "A" English student, except for that undeserved "D".

A couple of weeks ago，my friend offered to sell some of our things for us. I thought it was a good opportunity to        my 7 year old son’s room and         some toys that were no longer suitable for him to play with. We       that all the money we got from selling the toys would be his money.
The night before the       ，we loaded up the truck with toys and a little bike that was too       for him. In the yard he       the bike for the last time and then happily put it onto the truck. This little bike had at least two previous owners as far as we       .It wasn’t in the best       and was certainly not new，but the tires were       good.
We put a price of $10 on it，but it didn’t sell. So，after the sale was       ，my friend put it on the sidewalk with a sign that       “FREE，BIKE”. Within five minutes her doorbell rang. A little boy was       there. In poor English he asked whether the bike was        free. She said yes and that he could have it for       He smiled，got on the bike and rode away.
Later that evening when I told my son how much money he had made at the sale，he was very      ，shouting happily. He asked about a few of his things，wondering    they had been sold. When he asked about the bike，I told him about the little boy and that made him       .He was much happier than when I told him how much he had       .He was so happy to       that someone else would make good       of that little bike!

I had a job interview this morning at 10:30 in a place which was quite far from my house.
I had asked my brother to_   ___me at the bus stop. But he was running late and it was already 9:45 before I reached the bus stop.__   __, I caught my first bus and had to wait at another stop for the second one.
Then, in front of my__   __, a little girl (who may have been a beggar) was hit by a car!The car drove off without__   __. The girl was badly hurt in her hands and legs. She was _   ____heavily and was screaming in pain. After a few seconds she fainted(昏厥).
People standing nearby didn’t seem to know_   ___ to do. I ran over and called for an auto. A_   ____, who seemed to be the girl’s grandpa, ran towards us with _  ____steaming down his cheeks. I took them both to ______ in the auto. They admitted the girl and _   ___ to start her treatment. Happily, she was well__   ___ and soon came back to consciousness. It was 1:30p.m. Before I got home. I was __   __hours late! The one interview who was still there asked what had__   __ me. I told him, and then gave him one of our Smile cards and _   ____ about the project. He was very impressed!

Night after night, she came to tuck me in (給…掖被子), even long after my childhood years. Following her long-standing custom, she’d        and push my long hair out of the way, then kiss  my forehead.
I don’t remember when it first started        me----her hands pushing my hair that way. But it did annoy me,       they felt work-worn and rough against my young skin.        , one night, I shouted at her, “Don’t do that anymore ----your hands are too       !” She didn’t say anything in reply. But never again did my mother close out my day with that        expression of her love.
Time after time, with the passing years, my thoughts        to that night. By then I missed my mother’s         , missed her goodnight kiss on my forehead. Sometimes the incident        very close, sometimes far away. But always it existed in the back of my        .
Well, many years have passed, but mother’s rough hands are still doing things for me and my family. She’s been our doctor,        into a medicine cupboard for the medicine to         us children of our pain. She makes the best food in the world and always keeps our clothes clean.
Now, my own children are grown and gone. Mom no longer has Dad, and on special        , I find myself drawn next door to spend the night with her. So it was late on Thanksgiving Eve, as I slept in the bedroom of my youth, a familiar hand        ran across my face to brush the hair from my forehead. Then a kiss, ever so gently,        my forehead.
In my memory, for the thousandth time, I        the night my young voice        , “Don't’ do that anymore----your hands are too rough!”        Mom’s hand in my hand, I blurted out how sorry I was for that night. I thought she’d remember, as I did. But Mom didn’t know what I was talking about. She had forgotten ---and       ---long ago.
That night, I fell asleep with new appreciation for my gentle mother and her caring hands. And the        that I had carried around for so long was nowhere to be found.

“Check it again, you need to be sure.”This culture rule may sound      , but it is one of the most powerful culture rules. I took a lot of things for granted. In fact, I used to      people who often check things, such as their car engine oil, the house security, even the children in the bedroom. I didn’t realize that        this rule would cost me dearly.
One day the owner of the supermarket I worked in asked me to make a(n)      to the investors(投資者) whom we wanted to become partners with. I was given a month to        it.

I grew up poor-living with six brothers, three sisters and my mother. We had little money, but plenty of love and attention. I was      and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still      a dream.

That simple question made      to me the difference between      something right now and having a goal. I      myself in sports that summer and      the year I was drafted(選拔) by the Pittsburgh Pirates to play baseball, and      a $ 20,000 contract. Later, I bought my mother the house of my dream!

One day I met a man in the hospital, who needed blood to save his daughter. He was struggling to get blood for her and curiously       my blood type. My blood type was the same needed for his daughter. Before that I       donated my blood, so I was afraid of doing this and didn’t know what to do.
Then suddenly I saw a little girl in the hospital, who was        from a critical disease and needed blood from her six-year-old brother. Yes, from her younger brother, why?
His brother had        suffered with the same disease and by God's kindness        by developing the anti-bodies(抗體) needed to fight for the disease.
The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the boy if he would be      to give his blood to his sister. I saw him        for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I'll do it if it will save my sister."
As the transfusion（輸液）progressed, he smiled, seeing the        returning to her sister's cheeks. But suddenly, his face grew pale and his        faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a        voice, "Am I going to die?"
Being young, the boy had       the doctor; he thought he was going to give her all his blood and        his life.
I felt     , when that young boy,      the fact of blood donation, got ready to give his blood, thinking that he will lose his life but save his sister's life. And I, being a mature person, knowing that this will not        my life, I will not lose my life,      save others’ lives and I was hesitant of doing this.
That moment        my thoughts and I became enthusiastic about doing this important duty and felt that true        by helping save that little girl's life.
If any patient dies due to a blood shortage, I will not call this the       of doctors, as science is still not able to make blood artificially. Only we can save others’ lives      donating blood.
