What’s worse, overweight children turn into overweight adults. If you’re obese now, you probably will grow into an obese adult. But here’s good news. You can fight overweight.

Change your eating habits

You are what you eat. Kids like snacks. Did you list any healthy snacks? One study of eating habits showed that soft drinks are the first in the snack list. Next, kids choose salty snacks, like chips. What’s more, the list is full of junk food from No. 3 to No.11.Finally, No.12, kids picked a healthy snack—fruit. So, think about your snack choice again.

Get outside to exercise

Jim, a player on his school football team, had a weight problem not long time ago. He could never get anyone to play with him. So his father and he started playing football for a few minutes every night. Ten minutes turned into an hour or more. In just a few years, the heavy kid became athletic, fit and healthy.

More TV means more fat

Nearly every American kid watches TV for 2 hours and 56 minutes every day—that adds up to 44 days a year of sitting. More TV (or more Internet surfing, or more computer games) means more fat.

【題目】 When 4-year-old British Prince George started his first day of school in September, 2017, Chinese language was on his course.

And he wasn’t alone. According to a report in September, about 51 percent of UK parents want their children to learn Chinese, as it’s believed to be one of the most useful languages to know.

In fact, the popularity of Chinese drove the UK government to launch the Chinese Excellence Program in September last year. Its goal is to make at least 5, 000 British state middle school students speak Chinese well by 2020.

The language has become the second most spoken foreign language in the US, after only Spanish (西班牙語),with over 2. 1 million speakers, according to a survey.

Many US famous people such as Facebook founder (臉書創(chuàng)始人) Mark Zuckerberg and Obama’s daughter,Malia Obama, study Chinese as a second language.

So far, 67 countries and regions (地區(qū)) have included Chinese in their national course, so why are so many countries crazy about learning Chinese?

One reason could be that as China continues to develop quickly, Chinese is increasingly becoming a useful tool for people’s personal and professional growth. “I think everyone believes that China will be the next great superpower (超級大國)... even if it' s not a superpower like America. It still has an important influence in the future,” said Aisling.

McCaffrey from Canada, who studied at the Renmin University of China, “Learning Chinese is the best way to make sure that you can be part of that growth.”

This opinion was shared by former (前任的) British Prime Minister David Cameron, who urged(呼吁) British students to learn Chinese to “seal (抓住) tomorrow’s business deals” in 2013.

1Why do UK parents want their children to learn Chinese?

A.Chinese is on the course.B.Princess George starts to learn Chinese.

C.The UK government sets up the program.D.Chinese is one of the most useful languages.

2________asked British students to learn Chinese.

A.Malia ObamaB.David CameronC.Prince GeorgeD.Mark Zuckerberg

3Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

A.Aisling McCaffery is from Canada.

B.Learning Chinese is the best way to be famous.

C.There are more than 2.1 million Chinese speakers in the US.

D.67 countries and regions have included Chinese in their national course.

4What’s the best title of the passage?

A.The ways to learn Chinese well

B.The increasing number in learning Chinese

C.Why learning Chinese has risen around the world

D.The relationship between language and development

【題目】 Would you like to have a brother or sister? Months ago this might have sounded impossible to many. But with the end of China’s “one-child policy”, this could actually happen now.1. All Chinese couples are allowed to have two children, which means that many Chinese children may have siblings (兄弟姐妹)in the future.

2. Having a sibling can stop children from having bad feelings such as loneliness and fear, according to Laura, a professor of family research from the US. University, “Siblings give kids something that parents can’t” she said.3.你在家也許不再感到孤單 because there is someone else to play with and you can also talk about different things and share secrets with each other.

But there are downsides, too. You need to share things with your siblings, including attention from parents, toys, the bathroom and even the TV. There could be lots of competition, fights and even hair- pulling. “Children with siblings need to learn to compromise (妥協(xié))and control their feelings,” said Laura.

Even the birth order can make a difference. US Psychologist (心理學家)4. Kevin Leman said that the birth order decides how parent treat their children. Leman explained that parents are usually very nervous and strict, with their first child, so firstborns are often responsible and eager to succeed. 5.當一對夫婦有第二個孩子時,他們沒那么嚴厲并且規(guī)矩也會少些, so late-born kids are usually funny and creative.

【題目】 You frown (皺眉) when you are angry or upset. Your parents pat(輕拍) your head to show their love. Some players like to throw their arms forward. It seems they’re flying, after they score. Body language is everywhere. How important is it?

Body language does not use words. It is communication with the movement or position(位置) of your body. The way you stand, a hand gesture are examples of body language. And it also includes facial expressions.

According to American scientist Edward T. Hall, in a conversation between two people, 65 percent of communication is body language. In some cases you can even express yourself without any words at all. For example, your friend asks you to come on a picnic with him, you give him an “OK”gesture to say: “Yes, sounds good!” Sometimes, your words say one thing but your body language says another. You may touch your face unconsciously (無意識地) while telling a lie.

In different cultures, the same body language may mean different things. In the US, eye communication during a conversation means you are interested in what the other person is saying. But in some Asian countries, it is impolite to look straight at a person when you are talking to him or her.

People in some countries use different body language to show the same meaning. In France, people kiss cheeks (臉頰) to say hello. The Japanese prefer to bow and Maoris in New Zealand touch noses when greeting.

1What is body language?

2How many examples of body language are mentioned (提及) in Paragraph 2?

【題目】 Sixteen years ago, I was in a taxi. We were driving in the right lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes(剎車) and missed the other car’s back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, who almost caused a big accident started yelling (喊叫) bad words at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved (揮手) at the guy. And I mean, he was friendly. So, I said, “Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined (損壞) your car and sent us to the hospital!” And this is when my taxi driver told me what I now call “ The Law of the Garbage(垃圾) Truck”.

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage becomes more and more, they need a place to dump (傾倒) it. When someone wants to dump on you, don’t take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. You’ll be happy with what you did.

I started thinking, how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets? It was that day I said, “I’m not going to do anymore.”

Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So, love the people who treat you right. Forget about the ones who don’t.

1What happened one day when the writer was taking a taxi?

A.The taxi almost hit another car.

B.A garbage truck hit the taxi.

C.The taxi driver got hurt.

2According to the passage, which word can describe the taxi driver best?

A.Warm.B.Wise.C.Honest.

3What does the word “garbage” mean in the passage?

A.Bad feelings.B.Waste things.C.Dirty minds.

4What can we infer from Paragraph 4?

A.The writer decided to forget what happened that day.

B.The writer was always kind to everyone in the past.

C.The writer wanted to change himself after that day.

5When we meet Garbage Trucks one day, what do we do?

A.We just smile, wish them well, and move on.

B.We can be an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

C.We should carry their garbage and spread it everywhere.
