【題目】 Over the last century, many building trends(潮流)have come and gone. But the buildings designed (設計) by Ieoh Ming Pei, one of the world's best-known architects (建筑), have not. The designs of this Chinese-American architects stands as his special talents to the whole world. However, the man behind the famous buildings died on May 16, at age 102.

During his long work life, Pei has left over 50 buildings with different styles (風格) around the world. According to him, it is dangerous for an architect to be marked with only one style. Instead, he was known for his eclectic style, bringing together opposite ideas into each design-East and West, ancient and modern, natural and man-made.

His style may come from his life experiences. He was born and grew up in China, and then he went to the US to study architecture at 18. He studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and later at Harvard. "I've never left China, because home is a place your heart always belongs to", he once said.

Pei tried to include local (當?shù)氐?/span>) and historical ideas in his designs. When designing Suzhou Museum in the 2000s, Pei made the building go with the city. He built small halls with traditional white walls and dark roofs (屋頂), just like the classical Chinese gardens which Suzhou are famous for. At the same time, the lines and the windows in the roof bring something modern to the museum.

Even in Pei's 80s when he was designing the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, Qatar, he still kept learning new things. He spent months in the Middle East visiting special places. "A lasting building will always find the place where it comes from," Pei said. That may explain why he and his designs have stood the test of time.

【題目】閱讀短文,根據要求完成下面各小題。

Have you ever counted the number of digits (數(shù)字) in your mobile phone number? Your number has 11 digits. You may sometimes find it hard to remember your number. That’s because China has the longest mobile phone numbers in the world. Why is that?

The 11 digits can be divided into three parts. Each part has a different meaning. The first three numbers tell you which mobile phone service provider (提供者) you are using For example, 135 is for China Mobile Communications Corporation and 188 is for China Unicom. The fourth to the seventh digits tell you where the number is registered (注冊). And the last four digits are random (隨機的).

The main reason for using 11 digits is that we have the largest population in the world. We once had 10 numbers. But as our population grew, there were not enough numbers for us to use. So we began to use 11 digits starting from 1999. Eleven digits can be used to make tens of billions of mobile phone numbers.83That’s enough for each person to have seven or eight phone numbers to use in China.

And mobile phone numbers can be recycled. Usually, the service provider will reuse a canceled number after three to six months.84If you call a number that you haven’t contacted (聯(lián)系) for a long time, you may find that its owner has changed.

Besides China, Britain and Japan also use 11-digit mobile phone numbers. But their numbers always start with 0. So they cannot create as many numbers as we can. Countries like the United States, Australia and India use phone numbers with 10 digits. Canada’s mobile phone numbers are perhaps the shortest in the world: they use seven digits.

A.根據短文內容回答問題。

1Is China the only country that uses 11-digit mobile phone numbers in the world? Why?

Katie 82
When I was a teenager, I was more responsible than today's teenagers. After school, I had to do lots of jobs at home. My parents were really angry when I didn't do my chores. Today's teenagers are lazier. They come home from school and then play computer games for the rest of the day.
Sarah 45
Young people nowadays aren't better or worse than young people in the past. Teenagers today have the same problems that we did. They're worried about finding their own identity(身份) and their own place in the world. I once read this quotation: “Children nowadays just love the easy life. They're bad mannered, have no respect for authority or for older people, and they make their teachers mad.” Do you know who said that? It was Socrates(蘇格拉底). He lived about 2,400 years ago.
Patty 52
In the media, they always say that teenagers have easy life. They say they're lazy and irresponsible. But I work with young people and lots of them are responsible and hard-working. I also meet teenagers who are opposite. Isn't it the same with adults? Perhaps teenagers have more money now. And they have lots of modern gadgets like MP3 players. But those things don't always make life easier or make you happier!
Ned 23
Who says teenagers have an easy life? Exams are harder now than in the past. It's more difficult to get a job so your marks need to be higher. The media make us worry about our appearance nowadays too; so a lot of teenagers aren't happy. They think they should be taller or thinner, like the people they see on TV. Maybe the problems are different from the past. But that doesn't make life easier. It's probably the opposite!
(1)Who thinks teenagers nowadays have a harder life than teenagers in the past?
A.Katie

C.Patty
D.Ned
(2)What does the underline word “opposite” mean in Paragraph 3?
A.irresponsible and lazy

(3)What's the meaning of “quotation” in Paragraph 2 ?
A.報價單
B.諺語
C.引用語
D.成語
(4)Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A.Katie thinks she was less responsible than today’s teenagers.
B.Sarah thinks teenagers today have the same problems that they did.
C.Patty thinks young people today are lazy and irresponsible..
D.Ned thinks teenagers have an easy life.
(5)The best title is ___________.

【題目】 We often reach a point in our life when we should be ready for change that will help us unlock (解鎖)our self-improvement power. When do we realize that we need to change diets? When none of our shirts and jeans would fit us .When do we stop eating candies and chocolates? When all of our teeth have fallen off. When do we realize that we need to stop smoking? When our lungs ()have gone bad. We see the warning signs and signals when things get rough and difficult.
