Last February, I was on holiday in Beijing with my family. One morning, I was sleeping soundly while I was woken up by a suddenly cry of my sister, “It’s snowing.” I got up quickly, dressed me and opened the window. Wow, I couldn’t believe in my eyes. Everything including trees, roofs and grass were covered with thick snow. In distance I saw lots of cars, like small white box, moving slowly on the road. I also saw some lovely birds flying happily in the snow. How a beautiful sight! I became exciting because I had never seen snow before. In no time, I ran out with my camera and take many photos to record my first experience of snow.

Many scientists believe that life begins in the ocean long ago. For age man used the ocean to discover and explore new lands. Now man spends a great deal of time or money discover the ocean. We know it is rich at minerals which the world need. We know too that it contains a plenty of food for all the people in the world. We know that if the salt were taken from it, it’s water would turn the deserts into rich farm lands. We know a great deal about this land frontier, as it has called. But we still need to learn many more about it.

I used to be a very self-centered person, but in the past two years I really changed. I have started to think about other people after I think about myself. I am happy that I am becoming the different person.
I think my change started when I was at Palomar College. At first, I just want to get my degree and be left alone. I thought I was smarter than everyone else, so I hardly ever talked to anyone in my classes. By the end of my first semester, I was really lonely. That seemed as if everyone besides me had made friend and was having fun. So I tried an experiment. I started asking people around me how they were doing, and whether they were having trouble, I offered to help. That was real a big step for me. By the end of the year, I had several new friends, two of them are still my best friends today.

Today is Sunday. The sky is full of sunshine, so does my life. At about 9: 00 am, I go to the bookstore with my friends. There was a lot of new books. I didn’t know what one to buy because these books were all useful to me. At 10: 00, we went to cinema. The film was called The Earthquake of Tangshan but some people were waiting outside the booking office. It took to us about two hours to see it. Having seen the film, everyone was deeply moving. Some friends even burst out tears. That’s a really wonderful film. It is very worth seeing again. What a happy day!  I hope tomorrow I will be even happier!

Once a man got on a bus for New York. He hid in∧ toilet, because he did not want to pay. But a passenger saw her. She tapped the person in front of her on the shoulder and say, "There's a bum(流浪漢) in the toilet. Tell the bus driver." The message was past from person to person. But anywhere along the way, it changed. The bus driver was told that there was a bomb in the toilet. He immediate stopped the bus and telephoned the police. When the police came in, they told the passengers to get off the bus or stay far away. Then they closed the highway.  This soon caused a 15-miles-long traffic jam. Under the help of a dog, the police searched for two hours. Of course they found no bomb!

Before lunch Allen happened to see a man fished in a water hole about five metre outside a bar. Allen stopped curiously. All people passing over the man who was fishing regarded him like a foolish man. Therefore, Allen said kindly to fish-catcher, “Hello, will you please do me a favor and have a drink with me in the bar?” The man gladly received his invitation. After buying the man several cups of soft drinks, Allen asked, “You are fishing there, right? May I know how much fish you have c aught this morning?” “You are the number 8,” said the man humorous.

Dear Brad,
I’m very glad to hear from you. In your last letter you ask about the post-80s in China. Actually I am the boy who belongs to this group. Comparing with our parents, life for us is getting much hard. The job market is tough and the houses expensively to afford. Now many girls prefer to marry with a man who owns a house and a car. Therefore, I don’t think love built on house and cars is true love,  and I doubt how long it will last. As a matter of fact though situations are tough today, a lot of we post-80s are making great efforts live a good life. I believe we will have a nice future.

After watch “English TV” last Sunday morning, I called my classmate and asked him to go to see a film in the afternoon. Before the film was over, we returned to school to do our lessons. While we are having a rest in the corridor, I saw Mr. Liu, my head teacher. He told me that we had made some progresses in English, but my Chinese lagged behind, especially my Chinese composition. He suggested I must read more and keeping a diary every day. In the evening my father told me that reading newspapers would do me well to improving my writing. That was really good idea! I’m terrible sorry for what I did this morning. I got up late than usual because I forgot to set my alarm clock the last night. When I hurried to school, I was only three minute late. You blamed me for that. Tired and annoying, I didn’t accept your blame but said something rude to you. Now I have realized the mistake that I make. Getting to school on time is I must obey. There shouldn’t be any excuses for be late. Besides, as a student, we shouldn’t have been so rude to you. I know everything you are doing is just for my good. Please do forgive me for my behavior.

The water we drink and use was running short. We all have to learn what to stop wasting water.
One of the step that we should take is to find ways of reusing it. Today in the most large cities, fresh water is used only once and then it runs in waste system. But that is possible to pipe the used water to a purifying factory, there the used water can be treated with chemical materials by the workers so that it can reused. But even if every large city purified and reused it's water, we still would have enough water.
